Frequently Asked Questions & Advice
Website Success
Clients often ask me if I can also create a website for them. I always enjoy extending the design concepts we create for their print materials to the their websites.
The first step is to get together and decide what is needed for the project and who will be responsible for each task:
- Have you registered a domain name?
- Do you need domain hosting services?
- What other sites can you link to?
- How can we increase traffic to your site—search engine optimization?
- Do you have anything in mind for your website content and design?
The second step involves brainstorming how the site will be structured, which pages will link to which. This creative process will lead to a site map showing the links and the navigation structure.
The third step concerns planning, writing, and designing the actual content that will appear on each page. This is very important. You want to give your visitor the information they are looking for and to display it in a pleasing format. The client can write their own text content, or we can bring in a professional web copywriter to write it for them.
The fourth step is reviewing the design and content. Do any changes need to be made before we “publish” to the Internet? If the answer is “yes”, then we can rework it and review it again.
The process ends when the client is satisfied and the website is up and running!
